How A Marine Mammal Almost Died to Plastic and most likely Microplastic

Sunbuddy was a Northern Elephant Seal that was rescued for being underweight, malnourished, and lethargic. During the admit exam, and a vet found a piece of trash inside of his throat.

Sunbuddy got the plastic removed from his throat and was fed back to a healthy weight until he was released back into the wild.

This could have gone very differently though, if there was no one that found the seal. Sunbuddy would have died if whoever found him, didn't find him. He would have had to suffer from starvation, and that's a horrible way to die.
